What to see in Puglia? Between beaches, natural parks, unspoilt landscapes, UNESCO sites and authentic villages there is plenty of choice. The region, which attracts a large number of visitors every year, offers a wide range of travel opportunities in the name of respect for nature.

Church of Santa Maria della PietΓ  Built between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries, is located in the ancient square of the town.

We are part of the Gargano hinterland: a unique and spectacular area from a naturalistic point of view, because in our case it brings together lake, sea and mountain.

After the breathtaking beauty that only nature can show, the Gargano shows us the beauty resulting from history, traditions, lived and above all and a splendid and unique culture.

History

From the modern and impressive architecture we recommend a church to visit absolutely: for the atmosphere of the spacious and bright interior. Without frills, essential a true jewel although far from the usual canons of sacred art.

A few hundred meters from the source of Bagno flows the spring Pannoni, surrounded by caves dug by fishermen who sought shelter during storms.

The Grotto of S. Michele has been inhabited since the Paleolithic, as evidenced by the lithic finds found there, and was home to pagan cults before its consecration to the cult of the defender of God, occurred in the Middle Ages. Unique place of worship and rich in pathos.

The distinctive and unforgettable feature of the Garganico territory is undoubtedly its hospitality made of good food and excellent wine, but also unique and inimitable places such as the trabucchi or the “Cavuto”.

The territory and people of the Gargano make traditions a real strength. The Museum of the Territory and Culture of the Lagoon or the Umbra Forest Museum are wonderful examples to visit.

Tradition

Vico del Gargano, in the province of Foggia, has a characteristic old town, famous for its Alley of the kiss, pilgrimage place for thousands of couples, especially during the period of Valentine’s Day.

Walking through the historic center of Vico del Gargano (that is located inside the old walls) you will meet the church of Santa Maria del Suffragio popularly known as the Church of Purgatory!

A true ecomuseum, a typology of which it was one of the pioneers in Italy, whose acute approach not only addresses the aspects of the nature of the place but also the virtuous effects of its anthropization.

Culture

Every landscape, every place is the testimony of an ancient culture and daughter of this land. The church of purgatory or the baronial palace are tangible evidence that attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Also known as Diomedee, the Tremiti represent a small corner of paradise that attracts thousands of tourists every year thanks to the clear sea, clean waters, pleasant climate, fresh air, lush vegetation, nature still wild and unspoiled, the bays and headlands, the low and sandy coasts, but also high and rocky cliffs overlooking the sea.

Located on the northern coast of the Gargano promontory and immersed in a diverse territory that includes sea, mountain, lakes and countries rich in history.

Foce Varano celebrates the SS. Crucifix of Lake Varano every 23 August, a tradition that is renewed every year. The statue of Christ, in gilded metal, is placed all year round in the waters of the lake, near the Church of SS. Annunziata.

Different and varied are the places that can create truly unique atmospheres. Impossible to miss are the alley of the kiss or the old town of Peschici. What about the beach of Pizzomunno…

Unique atmospheres

Wow! Here’s the first exclamation. The old town is a marvel. There are many shops and it’s beautiful to get lost in picturesque alleys and narrow streets.

It is called Pizzomunno beach or Castello beach. A really fantastic place, south of the town and offers a true natural spectacle, framed by the golden sand and crystal clear waters of the Gargano.

This picturesque cave is named in this particular way for an ancient tradition that sees it as one of the three iconic places of worship of the Gargano of the Archangel Michael.
